It’s really felt like a long time since we were out on a review – I almost forgot how to do it!
Coming off our back to back “Wars,” the holidays, and a search for some great chicken and dumpling recipes, the little critic and I were in the mood for a simple comfort lunch. Today that meant a hoagie. . . and off to Bruno’s of Lebanon we go.
Located at the end of the strip mall along Isabel Drive, just off state Route 72, this sandwich shop offers inside dining as well as takeout and drive-thru service.

For our lunch today we chose the #1, a large sharp Italian ($12.99), which they most recently posted on their Facebook page and it looked good. They also had a few soups available. I will never turn down a seafood soup when it’s offered. So, we also got a bowl of shrimp corn chowder ($6.99).
The hoagie comes with Prosciutto, Capicola, Genoa Salami, and Aged Sharp Provolone on your roll of choice (for us it was soft), served with the house oil. A hearty hoagie that is well constructed and with a rich flavor from the freshly cut meats. Does it remind me of the old Mama Jean’s that used to be here? Absolutely.

The chowder is one that tastes homemade. It was solidly full of shrimp and rich goodness. They used baby shrimp inside, which can cook through fast and turn mushy after only a short time in the chowder.

Our take: This hoagie shop offers a full menu of the standard offerings. They have a rotating soup menu and incorporate it in a lunch special. The quality is top-notch and the food is delicious. Their Facebook page will showcase a few of their sandwiches throughout the week which will make you want to stop in for one.
