I was working mobile one Monday morning and needed a change of scenery from my typical home office view, so I headed down to The Clay House Cafe on Quentin Road.

The Clay House Café is a new café in the area, taking the place of the former Sydney Coffee Roasters space in the South Pointe Centre. As you may have seen, they took first place in our ratings of the Java Journey locations with their “White Cinnamon Bark Latte.” I couldn’t wait to try their other drinks and food.

I opted to try a Chai Tea Latte for my drink of choice today. The sweet and spiced latte had a nice balance. Rather than using a tea concentration like many cafés do, I noticed that my drink included a chai tea bag which I always appreciate, leaving it slightly less sweet and offering more of chai’s spicy flavor.

I was hungry since it was mid-morning, and I hadn’t eaten due to an early appointment. I perused the online menu, ordering from my table using their QR code, and opted for the Spicy Pesto Waffle Melt ($8). A crispy waffle envelops scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar, mayo-pesto, and red pepper flakes. It had a nice spice level and came with a side of sausage links. The waffle was the perfect combination of fluffy and crisp on the outside and gave a little sweetness to the spice in the middle of the sandwich.

Our take: The Clay House has quality drinks and delicious food. It’s a welcoming atmosphere inside, whether you grab your drink to go or sit and set up your mobile office for a while. If you have kids, be prepared to stay a while as they play barista in the café’s play area!

We give this place 🥓🥓🥓🥓.
