Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
Welcome to what might be our most anticipated War to date, Lebanon Valley Diner Wars. Four entrants from across the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Diner in The Valley.

Our judgement will be based upon several factors including menu offerings, quality of food, level of service, and ambience. Diners are a special place where you can get comfort food in a homey environment. For this War we will be having dinners at each diner.
We conclude this War on the far south end of the Valley, just across the county line at the entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This is also the newest diner in the Valley. E&E Diner is located in the former Mary’s Cheers Bar and has a dining area with tables and booths as well as a small counter seating.

Our dinner for this evening was the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich ($11.99) with mashed potatoes and gravy and the Fish & Chips ($15.99) with French fries and tossed salad.

The hot roast beef sandwich comes with pieces of fresh roast beef like mom makes and grilled before being smothered in rich brown gravy. The mashed potatoes had small chunks of potato and a creamy, buttery flavor. This dish is one that has always been my go-to comfort meal and might have been one of the best I have ever had.

The fish and chips came with four pieces over top of a bed of fries with your choice of tartar or cocktail sauce. The fries are the very crispy kind, and the fish is satisfying in a nostalgic or comfort-food kind of way.

As an aside, the dessert case had some very tempting sweet treats in there. And they also have a weekend breakfast buffet.
Did we just eat at the best diner in the Valley?
It is now time for us to digest all our diner dinners and gather in critic HQ to deliberate. We will announce a winner in a few days.
Who do you think will win?
