Gretna Theatre 2025 Season – Hadestown: Teen Edition at Mount Gretna Playhouse
$18.00 – $48.00 | 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday, August 1 | 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Gretna
“Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown, modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences. This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and that of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.”

16th Annual 12″ & Under Small Works Group Show at Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery
Free | 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 1 | 847 Cumberland St., Lebanon
Who says bigger is better?! Local central Pennsylvania artists, both professional and amateur, have been dispelling this myth for the past 15 years during Lebanon Picture Frame and Fine Art Gallery’s annual 12” & Under Small Works Group Show. Over 50 artists annually submit over 100 pieces for exhibition — collages, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glassworks, and mixed media, all less than a foot.
The challenge for the artists is to express themselves without allowing their creation to exceed 12” in any direction. Can an artist use their talent to create works of art in a space smaller than a dinner plate? Each year, we find out that, yes, it is possible to create fabulous art in small packages! Stop in and see for yourself that sometimes smaller is better.
Over the past 15 years, Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery has been hosting this colossal small works group show. Be prepared to be delighted by the amazing entries at the Artists’ Reception on First Friday on Friday, Aug. 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view through Saturday, Sept. 27.
Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery has been serving the regional artistic community since 1999. Aside from professional and quality archival custom framing, its gallery regularly features exhibitions of local artists, as well as unique handcrafted gift items, such as jewelry, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and more.

Six Bar Break at Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel
6 p.m., Friday, August 1 | 101 E. Main St., Fredericksburg
Six Bar Break is a full throttle, roots rock trio homed in Harrisburg, PA. Helmed by the group’s primary songwriter, Ben Bollinger, they’ve been spreading the word about the band throughout the mid-Atlantic and picking up new fans everywhere they go.
Their style and sound take a little bit of inspiration from yesterday and today, describing it as a modern fusion of roots, rock, and blues but still original. They’re constantly driven to create something of their own — something built on the beats, solos, and riffs and glued together with a vocal begging to be heard, and a story ready to be told.
The band independently released their first EP, “Echo Seven Nine,” in September 2016, and they just completed production on their 2017 release, “Broken Road,” with Fred Pellegrini and Progressive Studios. Anytime they’re not on tour, you can find them streaming live to fans on YouTube and Periscope, releasing new videos, staying in the top 10 on the Reverbnation charts, and working on the next big thing.
First Friday Art Walk at Pho Bar & Grill
7 p.m., Friday, August 1 | 103 W. Main St., Annville
Genres and conventional approaches to songwriting are a thing of the past, a dying art. While this may be the bane and disapproval of many modern music listeners’ experience, an artist like Alex Stanilla uses this approach as inspiration. Stanilla’s music seems to be the result of the internet age and having access to a number of different forms of media at any time. Stanilla’s songs are equal parts electro-pop, hip hop, alternative rock, and jazz, with an assorted number of glitches, synth howls, and shouted vocals making their way through the sonic landscape of his songs.
Stanilla’s latest album, “Qualia,” has been described as the lovechild of “The Beach Boys and Bastille,” and he’s described it as an “impression.” “It’s like making an experimental film, very little thought to how things should transpire, but just going to the strangest places possible.” Stanilla already has another E.P. and a full-length ready to be released in the coming months and sees this time in his life as a “musical purge.” For anyone who likes their pop music homemade and created with a great deal of heart and intention, Stanilla’s music is highly recommended.
