The South Lebanon Fire Department will host its second annual softball tournament Saturday, Sept. 13, at South Hills Park, featuring 12 teams competing to raise funds for the department’s three stations.
The tournament returns after a successful inaugural event last year, with games beginning at 8 a.m. at 1100 S. Lincoln Ave. This year’s field includes six first responder teams from area fire and police departments and six teams in the regular softball bracket, with one team traveling from Delaware County to compete. Games will continue throughout the day.
“We encourage members of the community to come check it out,” said Jeremy Brandt, tournament coordinator.
Proceeds will support equipment purchases, building maintenance, and station furnishings for the South Lebanon Fire Department, which maintains three stations following the merger of Hebron Hose/Avon, Friendship, and Prescott fire departments.
City Edge Coffee and Island Thyme Grill will provide food for spectators and players throughout the day. The department will display several pieces of SLFD fire apparatus and raffle softball gear during the event.
“South Hills is a beautiful park, and it is just a great day to hang out and check out the activities,” said Brandt. “Last year’s event was a success and a lot of fun, so we hope to keep this going and keep building every year!”
