Anne Bolton, a healer facing persecution for witchcraft, bargains with a dark entity for protection—but the fire she unleashes will reverberate for centuries. Mary Shephard, a picture-perfect wife in a suffocating community, falls for Sharon and begins a forbidden affair that could destroy them both. And Camilla Burson, the rebellious daughter of a preacher, defies conformist expectations to uncover an ancient power as her father’s flock spirals into crisis.

Literary Fiction and Classics Book Club at Book Bar
1-2 p.m., Sunday, April 26 | 50 N. Railroad St., Suite 1, Palmyra
Welcome to Book Bar’s official Literary Fiction and Classics Book Club. The selected book for April is The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton.
Book description: Dutiful Newland Archer, an eligible young man from New York high society, is about to announce his engagement to May Welland, a suitable match from a good family, when May’s cousin, the beautiful and exotic Countess Ellen Olenska, is introduced into their circle. The Countess brings with her an aura of European sophistication and a hint of perceived scandal, having left her husband and claimed her independence. Her worldliness, disregard for society’s rules, and air of unapproachability attract the sensitive Newland, despite his enthusiasm about a marriage to May and the societal advantages it would bring. Almost against their will, Newland and Ellen develop a passionate bond, and a classic love triangle takes shape as the three young people find themselves drawn into a poignant and bitter conflict between love and duty. Written in 1920, Edith Wharton’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about a time and place long gone by—1870s New York City—beautifully captures the complexities of passion, independence, and fulfillment, and how painfully hard it can be for individuals to truly see one another and their place in the world.

Hope for Hurting Parents at Peer Focus
Free | 2-3 p.m., Sunday, April 26 | 410 Springwood Dr., Lebanon
It was started by Tom and Dena Yohe in 2011, based on their own 10-year journey with their daughter, Renee, who struggled with mental health issues, addiction, and self-injury. They continue to lead free Zoom meetings monthly and send out inspirational emails weekly. They encourage people to start small in-person groups in their own community, which Joe Duke did three years ago. People seem to find comfort and strength in meeting with others who have gone through similar situations. At our support group meetings, we discuss one of 22 topics as outlined in Yohe’s workbook, such as self-care, enabling, worry, anxiety, hope, and guarding your family. The workbook also includes prayers, exercises, websites, and other resources. Support group sessions are free and open to anyone who is a parent, caregiver, or loved one of someone who struggles with mental health issues, estrangement, addictions, gender dysphoria, incarceration, homelessness, or any other problem that causes you to experience emotional and spiritual turmoil. Our mission is to give comfort, encouragement, and hope to hurting parents, caregivers, and loved ones on their journey from surviving to thriving.
Lebanon County Community Concert Association Presents River City Brass at Lebanon High School’s William Starr Auditorium

River City Brass is a full-time professional brass band that is dedicated to bringing its music into local communities where audiences reside. They offer a wide variety of repertoire and a unique and personable experience for all patrons! Their mission is to entertain, engage, and educate audiences of all ages by sharing American musical culture in the Pittsburgh region, nationally, and internationally.
James Gourlay was born in Scotland, where, at the age of 10, he was “volunteered” to play in his school brass band. Being the tallest in class, he was serendipitously given the tuba, an instrument he loves and continues to promote all over the world. Gourlay’s career as a chamber musician and soloist continues to flourish. He has been a member of the Philip Jones and English Brass ensembles with which he has toured the world, and also continues to perform as a soloist extensively. His commitment to music education is a continuing passion. He has been Head of Wind and Percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music and Deputy Principal and Music Director at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Salford University, a Master’s degree from Leeds University, a Fellowship from the Royal Northern College of Music, and a Fellowship from the London College of Music. He is also a recipient of the Henry Iles Medal, presented by the Worshipful Company of Musicians for services to the Brass Band Movement. Currently, Gourlay is International Vice President of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association and Artistic Director of the River City Brass.
