Just when we think our hectic life starts to calm down, something always seems to pop up.
On this fine day, one of the critics was laid up. So, the little critic and I made a quick stop for breakfast before we had a whole day of errands to run all over the lower Susquehanna Valley.
We knew there were a couple of new breakfast options in the Valley so we decided to give one a try.
Located in the lobby of the revamped Inn at Lebanon sits Kelly’s Diner. Right inside the front door is the diner with table and booth seating.

The menu has the standard breakfast staples: omelets, bennies, pancakes/french toast/waffles, as well as skillets.
For our breakfast this morning we had the kids scrambled egg ($6.99) and the Irish benedict ($9.99).
The little critics meal was a single scrambled egg, with home fries and sausage and an added cheese slice on top. The kids’ breakfast comes with a free drink (the little critic got orange juice).
The Irish benedict featured a generous portion that filled the plate, with two perfectly poached eggs resting atop hearty corned beef hash and an English muffin, all covered in a rich hollandaise sauce. The flavors came together nicely and made for an enjoyable breakfast, though nothing particularly stood out beyond delivering the familiar taste and comfort expected from the dish. The substantial serving size ensured it was a filling meal that would satisfy most appetites.
Our take: The food is good for a quick stop with a decent price. This diner is not your typical diner in the Valley based on looks. The space is shared with the hotel guests getting their complimentary breakfast. The staff is friendly and they seem to want to make your visit go well and have you return. I’ll be back to try a lunch or dinner meal.
