At the July 28 meeting, Palmyra Borough Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-26, appointing RETTEW to serve as assistant zoning officer, at the council’s discretion, until Monday, Jan. 3, 2028.
According to the borough’s website, RETTEW currently serves as stormwater engineer and wastewater engineer, in addition to its new role with the borough.
Also at the brief meeting, from which council member Beth Shearer and mayor Tom Miller were absent, the council unanimously approved road closures for Palmyra Area High School’s homecoming parade on Friday, Sept. 25, with a rain date of Monday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
The parade will begin in front of Palmyra Area Middle School on West Cherry Street, continue east on East Cherry Street, south on South Lincoln Street, west on East Oak Street, south on South Railroad Street, west on West Walnut Street, south on South Locust Street, and disperse at the rear of Palmyra Area Middle School.
In other news, council members unanimously moved to:
- Approve the July 14 meeting minutes, approve the payment of the borough’s bills, and approve the treasurer’s report.
- Approve the various other reports.
As part of the borough manager’s report, assistant borough manager Brenda Pera shared that PAWS is monitoring the area surrounding the Cadillac Motel and the Quigley Baum American Legion Post 72 and other areas within the borough.
Pera also shared that borough manager Kim Kaufman is dealing with a medical issue that requires surgery with a six- to eight-week recovery window. Per Kaufman’s request, Pera told the council that he plans to return once he recovers.
The council announced that an executive session was held prior to the July 28 meeting and any action items from that meeting would be voted on at a regular meeting. In a follow-up call, Pera told LebTown the executive session regarded a personnel issue.

Palmyra Borough Council will meet next on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m, at 325 S. Railroad St. Meetings are also streamed on the Palmyra Borough, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania YouTube page.
