It can be difficult to get a good look at the middle of the Lebanon Valley without a way to get up high and take in the sights. Fortunately, that’s exactly what drones offer.

All photographs by Will Trostel.

LebTown took to the skies with a camera drone to capture the beauty of the summer season in the South Lebanon area this July. Check out the bird’s-eye view of South Hills Park, Cedar Crest High School, North Cornwall Commons, and the Lebanon VA Center below:

Looking out over the various fields of South Hills Park.
Behind the park is the southern suburbs of Lebanon.
From this high up, the southern mountain ridge enclosing the valley is visible.

Just south of South Hills Park is the equally verdant campus of the Lebanon VA Medical Center, which encompasses over 200 acres of land.

It’s a long, scenic drive up to the front of the center.
The first buildings of the campus were constructed in the 1940s.

From the Center, Cedar Crest High School and Middle School can be seen. Nobody’s there for school yet, although plenty of students practice sports here in the off season.

The lot is nearly empty save for the two school officer vehicles parked at the front of the building.
The high school has seen a number of expansions since it first opened in 1966.
Cedar Crest Middle School was constructed several years after the high school and opened in the first years of the 1970s.
Tennis courts at the back of the high school are a favorite practice area for players waiting until the school season begins again.
The track and field might be empty now, but games at Cedar Crest typically pack the bleachers.

Just west of South Hills Park is the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail, which crosses over Wilhelm Avenue as it connects Cornwall and Lebanon together.

A small spur path runs parallel to Wilhelm and up to the edge of the park.
The campus of Lebanon High School can be seen to the right in this photograph.

There’s plenty of interesting goings-on happening around the intersection of Rocherty and Cornwall Road. In the northeast, the North Cornwall Commons development is seeing activity every day as crews construct the 90-room Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites in the neighborhood.

The burgeoning development is itself still only partially completed. Visible in this photograph is Phase I of the five-phase project.
Last year, the development was linked to the adjacent rail trail.

Just south of the development is the Lebanon Expo Center, where the Eagle Arms Gun Show was taking place at the time of LebTown’s visit.

Judging from the parking lot, the two-day event drew in quite a crowd.
Fortunately, there’s plenty of space in the 75,000-square-foot complex.
