A two-alarm fire interrupted Memorial Day activities this afternoon in Cleona, with no one injured but crews remaining on scene for several hours to control the scene.

The fire began at 240 East Penn Ave (Route 422), with exposure at the adjoining 242 East Penn Ave as well.

The cause of the fire was not immediately obvious and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal had been called to investigate.

In addition to Cleona Fire Company, responding companies included Union Hose Company of Annville, Neversink Fire Company of North Cornwall Township, Perseverance Fire Company of Jonestown, Citizens Fire Company of Palmyra, Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company, and Bellegrove Fire Company of Annville.
