Youth sports continue to grow and so too does the need for facilities.

In The Net in South Londonderry Township is finalizing plans to add a new 65,000 square foot expansion consisting of an “air dome” over an existing field.

The Yeadon Air dome will house the complex’s pre-existing 65,000 square foot outdoor, artificial turf, multi-purpose field.

Yeadon is a Minneapolis based company that specializes in building air-supported dome structures.

The expansion will allow for a greater number of events — as well as larger ones — to be held inside, under more ideal weather conditions compared to what’s going on outside.

The new air dome isn’t the only project currently underway over at Flightpath Business Park.

In The Net’s JBT Field House, which opened back in early-2018 is in the final stretch of being converted into a third ice rink for the neighboring Klick-Lewis Arena. This new ice sheet is set to open later this month.

In The Net is a 30-acre athletic complex with a 60,000 square feet permanent dome structure, six outdoor baseball/softball fields, and four natural grass multipurpose fields. After the new dome is complete, the facility will have 125,000 square foot of covered playing fields.

The complex hosts baseball, field hockey, football, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, soccer, softball, and even canine sporting events
