The incumbent Lebanon County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans’ Court, Brian Craig, announced last week that he will run for reelection to the position in the primary election on May 18.
Craig, a Palmyra resident, has held the position since his election in 2017 to a four-year term.
According to the Lebanon County website, the Register of Wills and the Clerk of Orphans’ Court (a dual position) is tasked with “court-related administration” in matters of marriage, guardianship, adoption, and probates and estates, as well as records keeping, among other responsibilities.
In a press release, Craig said that “[s]erving the people of Lebanon County is a distinct honor. I thoroughly enjoy assisting the people of Lebanon County with their marriage, probate and guardianship needs.”
According to the release, Craig’s term has seen the office’s revenue increase by 12% and its expenses decrease by 3%. Craig noted that his goal of modernization set in 2017 has decreased the necessary number of visits made to the courthouse thanks to virtual applications for marriage and probate.
Craig plans to continue this modernization through a statutory program that sets aside a portion of fees for department capital expenditures. This fund has grown to over $100,000 during Craig’s term, according to the release.
Craig is an Air Force veteran and father of three. He is a member of the Palmyra VFW, the National Rifle Association, and the Lebanon County chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, and is the Chairman of the Palmyra Borough Vacancy Board. He was chosen by the Pennsylvania Register of Wills Association to represent them in the Pennsylvania State Association of Elected County Officials during his term.
