Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valleyโs restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appรฉtit!
Welcome to the first season of our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Steak Wars. Three entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Steak in The Valley.
Our judgement will be based upon several factors including cooking/preparation of the steak, seasoning, quality, and overall critic impression.
We conclude our first-ever Steak Wars in the southern region of the Valley. Amongst the tall trees and tiny villages of the old mining community, Tony’s Mining Company is a stand-alone restaurant known for its steak plates. The interior exudes a feel of being in the mines. Its two dining areas and bar are set to provide a very upscale dining experience.

Our selection for judgement this evening was medium Steak Frites ($38). This cut is a rRib cap with a teriyaki glaze, Saku Saku cabbage, and pommes frites.
The rib cap, or a ribeye, is known to be very tender and flavorful. This cut came with a teriyaki glaze that made for a great bite. Our cut was on the thicker side and came with a near perfect medium pink color on the inside. The exterior had a lovely char that sealed in the flavor but did not have the taste of the grill. The addition of the Saku Saku cabbage added a nice acidic touch to this dish.
We have tasted all our steaks and it will soon be time to declare a winner. The critic crew will deliberate and announce our winner soon!
