Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Welcome to the first season of our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Soup Wars. Seven entrants from across the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Soup in The Valley.

Soup Wars is being run in conjunction with the Lebanon County Coalition to End Homelessness’s Soup Stroll. For $12, you get a passport and a special soup mug. A drawing will be made at the conclusion for a prize winner. You can purchase tickets online by visiting the group’s Facebook page.

Our judgement will be based upon several factors including style, quality, taste, and presentation.

We have concluded our Soup Wars and are ready to name our winner. But before we do, we will name our Top 3 that we have tasted throughout this stroll.

#3 – Chili at Boyer’s Tavern

This bowl, while on the sweeter side, is loaded with plenty of beef. This homestyle offering is one that will not leave anyone hungry.

#2 – Lobster Bisque at Mount Gretna Hideaway

The creamy texture and the baked crocked comes out piping hot. With the extra cheese and croutons, this bowl is one that can be the main dish or makes the perfect appetizer.

#1 – Roasted Pumpkin & Apple Soup at Timeless Café

And our winner for best soup in the Valley… The Timeless Cafe! This is not the first bowl of soup we have had here. And no matter what the serving is, it is freshly homemade and done so with quality ingredients. No matter when you stop in, you will have the best soup in the Valley at this lovely downtown spot.

This has been a fun Wars series. We will have a few regular reviews coming up soon as well as kicking off our next “wars” series. What will it be? Find out soon.

If you have a restaurant you would like us to visit or review, whether a place you like or are nervous to try, please message us on Facebook or email lvfoodcritics@outlook.com and let us know. We thank everyone for the recommendations and the kind words we have received.
