Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Welcome to the second season of our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Pizza Wars. There will be a total of 8 entrants. Round 1 will be head to head. The final round will be between the four remaining places to be declared the winner of Best Pizza in The Valley.

Our judgement will be based upon several factors including taste, texture, sauce, crust, and overall critic impression.

For the first round, we will be having a standard slice with pepperoni.

We continue with our next match-up between Tony’s Roma vs Gubba’s.

At Tony’s Roma, our slice was nice and broad. The thinner crust had a crisp the whole way. The sauce had a subtle flavor, allowing you to taste the cheese and thick pepperoni slices.

At Gubba’s, our slice came out with a thicker crust. The bite was doughy. The sauce was savory and had a delicious bite. We did have trouble keeping our toppings on the slice while eating.

The winner: Tony’s Roma – This slice with its crispy crust and overall flavor was our choice this match.

Tony’s Roma now joins Mancino’s, Pizza Town II, and J & S as they move on to Round 2!
