Editor’s Note: Michael and Nicole Borrell review Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. The couple aims to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to partner with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
The critic crew had the pleasure of volunteering at the little critic’s school and decided to do a casual lunch out. A few fast casual places have opened here in the Valley, so we decided to try one out.
Located along the now very busy State Route 72 corridor in North Cornwall Township sits a very colorful façade boasting signature hot chicken.

Dave’s Hot Chicken offers up a limited menu that is simply chicken tenders, nuggets, chicken sliders, and sides like french fries and mac & cheese. They also have specialty shakes.

For our lunch today we got Dave’s Meal #1 (2 Tenders with fries, $12.99) and Dave’s Meal #3 (1 tender and 1 slider with fries, $13.99). Our heat levels were mild, medium, and hot.

You can split the level of the seasoning on the meal. It’s a dry rub seasoning which is where the chicken’s heat and flavors come from. The tenders are large and juicy. The sliders are made with a tender folded over. This makes for an uneven balance for eating.

The spice is powdery which initially I was not a fan of, but it grew on me. If you can take the heat, the flavor and heat level will tantalize your taste buds. The medium was enough to get a sweat drop on our brows. But the mild seemed to lack flavor so possibly a blend of medium/mild or medium/hot might be best.
Our take: The tenders are large, and the dry rub has a different, powdery texture. As the name implies, the heat level is high. We wish the sliders were a different cut of chicken that fit the bun. The Dave’s signature sauce does add an enhanced flavor to your bite. The place is new to the area and the staff was very friendly and helpful to us there.
