Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
Welcome to our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Soft Pretzel Wars. Five entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Soft Pretzel in The Valley.

We will travel to each entrant and try one regular soft pretzel and one other item from the menu that is made with a soft pretzel.
We kickoff this war on the south side of Lebanon at Baked With A Twist. They are located at the corner of 8th and Poplar streets, in the old Lebanon Daily News building.

This shop offers soft pretzels, regular and with toppings, as well as mini pretzels, pretzel dogs, and pretzel pockets. In addition, they have a hot and cold beverage menu.
Our selection for judgement today was the classic soft pretzel and a buffalo chicken pretzel pocket.
The classic pretzel comes well salted, and it looks great. We dug into it before we got the picture (hence the corner missing). While being large, it looks evenly baked with a little crunch. The mild butter flavor really gives it a nice, blended flavor between a Philly style and an Amish style.

The buffalo chicken pretzel comes packed with deli chicken slices and a spicy buffalo sauce. Again, the pretzel crust is evenly baked, and the pocket holds together well and doesn’t create a mess while eating. For our tastes, it could have had a little sprinkling of salt added on top. Maybe that’s how I’ll get my next one because I will be back for others.

Did we just have the best soft pretzel in the Valley?
Next up we will travel to our other entrants: Dutchway Markets, Foltz’s, Pretzel Hut, and Shuey’s. After which, we will announce our winner.
