Results of an autopsy performed Saturday, April 18, on Gladys Lopez Echevarria have shown that the 26-year-old woman died of electrocution, police said Wednesday.

Lopez Echevarria collapsed around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, after making contact with a vacuum at Carriage House Car Wash, at 123 Bowman St. in the city.

Lopez Echevarria was transported to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital and later moved to WellSpan York Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on Thursday morning, April 16.

Another woman told LebTown in April that she had been shocked by a vacuum at the car wash earlier that week.

As part of the investigation into Lopez Echevarria’s death, the Lebanon City Fire Department assessed a vacuum at the car wash and determined it to be unsafe.

Lebanon City Police Chief Eric Sims said police will meet in the coming weeks with the office of Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf to determine if criminal charges will be filed in relation to the death.

Sims said all cases investigated by city police are considered open until the department makes a determination on whether charges will be filed.
