LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week will sometimes be a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet Oscar!

Oscar

Oscar, according to a Humane League of Lebanon County spokesperson, is “the sweetest ginger boy. He is quite a hunk.”

Sadly, this kitty has had a few upheavals in his life and “is so confused,” the shelter spokesperson explained.

“He was adopted about 4 year ago, then suddenly returned in July,” they said. “Then, he was adopted in August and returned.”

Concerned, the shelter ordered a thorough examination by their veterinarian, who determined Oscar needs “a urinary friendly diet” to help prevent urinary tract infections, or UTIs.

“So now, we are on a mission to find Oscar the puuuurfect home,” the shelter spokesperson said. “Oscar is a buff kitty. He is approximately 5 and a half years old. He loves to chill with humans. He loves to snuggle and explore. He will make a great companion for a single person or a calm family. He is one cool kitty.

“He needs someone to understand his health needs and keep him on a plan to stay healthy.”

Unfortunately, they added, “shelter life is stressful. Oscar was used to having room to move, run and play. He had the luxury of time with humans he loved and adored. He could lay in the sun, watch the birds and so many luxuries of daily home life. Now, all that has changed. Life in a cage is completely different. Let’s help Oscar find a home again.”

Do you think Oscar is a match for you? If you are interested in learning more about him or setting up an appointment to meet this furry friend, please contact the Humane Society at (717) 628-1369 or visit the shelter online at lebanonhumane.org for more information on the adoption process.

UPDATE: Beauty & Mikey, a bonded pair of kitties brought to the Humane Society back in April after their owner died and who were featured in this column on Sept. 16, have been adopted!
