LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

Our Pet of the Week is sometimes available for adoption through a local shelter. Other times the weekly column will spotlight a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home.

This week, meet Quinci Louis!

Quinci Louis

Quinci Louis is a Catahoula leopard dog, nearly 1 1/2 years old. According to his owner, Patricia Vincent, he was adopted in May after a Long Island rescue group pulled him from the kill list at an animal shelter in Louisiana. “I was in Louisiana at the time and had just put my blind dog of ten years down two weeks prior,” Patricia says. “I wasn’t ready for another dog but I fell in love with Quinci and adopted him on the spot.”

According to Patricia, Quinci survived a sad beginning. He was found when he was just 5 weeks old, she says, unconscious in a yard in rural Louisiana.

He was very emaciated, full of parasites and generally “banged up,” she adds. “They didn’t expect him to make it.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Quinci has microphthalmia (a very small eye), which makes him partially blind. His jaw is crooked, which makes his teeth crooked as well, but that doesn’t stop him from giving the cutest snaggletooth smiles. He also has epilepsy.

The elderly people who ran the shelter in Louisiana didn’t let him out of his kennel much, Patricia explains, so he “doesn’t dog very well.” He had to learn how to navigate stairs. He wasn’t potty trained, she says, and he had to get used to strange concepts like cars, furniture and even dog toys!

“But,” Patricia stresses, “he is a complete HUGE big baby and very very lovable and sociable dog who wins hearts over of anyone he meets. … I hope you pick Quinci for Pet of the Week because it showcases that special needs dogs are just as adorable, if not even more so.” She encourages animal lovers to give special needs animals a home.

By the way, she notes, “his name is spelled with two I’s since he only has one.”

Congratulations to Quinci Louis for being this week’s LebTown Pet of the Week … and for finding the loving home you deserve!
