LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.
Our Pet of the Week sometimes is a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the weekly column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.
This week, meet adoptable Hunter!
Hunter is a husky and is around 2 years old, according to the Humane Society of Lebanon County.
“He found his way to us as an emergency surrender due to his owner not being able to properly care for him,” a shelter rep explained. “Hunter was under-socialized up until this point and can have his guard up when meeting new people, but is heading in the right direction after working with staff. He may require more than one meet and greet to allow him to warm up on his terms.”
Consequently, the rep said, “Hunter will need a patient adopter who is experienced with these behaviors and, while breed experience is not required, it is helpful. However, once Hunter warms up to his friends, he comes out of his shell and becomes very playful!”
Hunter is treat motivated and knows how to sit on command. Out in the play yard, he can be independent and sniffs around, but, despite his independence, “he likes to keep a close eye on his humans to make sure they stay close by.”
“Even though he is slow to warm up, he is learning to love and be loved. Hunter was recently dog tested and loved romping around the yard with the other dogs!” the rep noted. “Due to Hunter still learning some of his manners, he would do best in an adult-only home.”
If you are interested in adopting Hunter, please fill out the adoption application online at lebanonhumane.org or call the Humane Society at 717-628-1369 for more information.
