From April showers to transit power: Keeping Myerstown green and growing
They say that April showers bring May flowers, and if you have taken a stroll through Myerstown lately, you know that is more than just a catchy rhyme.
As the spring rain works its magic on the Lebanon Valley, our community is beginning to burst into color.
From the well-tended gardens along Main Street to the lush greenery of the Myerstown Recreation Area, the vibrant transformation of our borough is a sure sign that brighter days and even brighter blooms are just around the corner.
A new way to move: Public transit expansion
The Myerstown Vitality Partnership (MVP) is working hard to keep that momentum going. Their focus isn’t just on economic growth and downtown revitalization; they’re also looking for ways to make Myerstown more sustainable. A big part of that means finding smarter, greener ways for people to get around town.
That’s why MVP is encouraging everyone to think about the future of local travel, starting with public transit. Right now, there’s a proposal for a new fixed-route bus service connecting Lebanon City, Myerstown, the ELCO region, and Womelsdorf. If more folks opt for the bus instead of driving solo, we’ll see less traffic on U.S. Route 422 and cleaner air for all, giving those May flowers a little extra room to bloom.
Public transit doesn’t just help the environment; it also opens doors for people who might not have other transportation options. Whether it’s getting to work, school, medical appointments, or local events, a reliable bus service helps everyone stay connected and engaged in community life. It’s about building a town where every resident can participate fully, no matter their circumstances.
Your voice, your transit

Of course, a project like this needs your input to succeed. Are the stops in the right places? Do the schedules fit your routine? Maybe you have ideas about accessibility or ways to make the service even more convenient. Lebanon Transit and the MVP want to know what you think. Your feedback will help shape a service that truly fits the needs of our community.
On Wednesday, April 29, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., the Myerstown Community Library is hosting a special feedback event. You’ll get to check out the proposed route maps and share your ideas about how public transit can better serve Myerstown.
And it’s not just about maps and schedules, there’s more to enjoy while you’re there:
- Free Goodies: Grab some transit swag and informational materials.
- Food: Enjoy Chick-fil-A while you chat with neighbors and planners.
- Community: Meet MVP team members who are working to keep Myerstown moving forward.
Everyone’s welcome, no registration needed. Whether you ride the bus every day or just want to see Myerstown thrive, stop by the library on the 29th. Together, we can keep our community green, connected, and heading in the right direction.
