Our Pet of the Week sometimes is a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the weekly column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.
This week, meet adoptable Alpha!
Alpha is a 9-year-old husky who came to the shelter in the midst of a diabetic crisis, Taylor, from the Humane Society of Lebanon County, explained in an email to LebTown.
“He was immediately rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, where he received the lifesaving care he needed,” Taylor said. “Thankfully, Alpha is now stable and doing well. He does require insulin injections twice a day, regular blood glucose monitoring, and a consistent, controlled diet to help keep his diabetes well managed. Alpha is also visually impaired.
“Despite everything he’s been through, Alpha has been the sweetest gentleman. He loves spending time with his people, soaking up affection, and taking long naps. Aside from his consistent feeding and medication schedule, he’s a very easygoing companion. He walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls where he can sniff, explore, and take in the world at his own pace.”
Alpha, Taylor says, is “ready to find a loving forever home where he can continue to thrive.”
This senior pup would do best in a home with children ages 10 and older and, at this time, should be kept separate from other animals in the home.
“Once Alpha is feeling his best, he will be scheduled for his neuter. He is currently available for a temporary foster, foster-to-adopt, or adoption,” Taylor says.
