LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

Our Pet of the Week sometimes is a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the weekly column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet adoptable Chowder!

“Chowder is a handsome mixed-breed dog estimated to be around 3-4 years old and weighs around 75 pounds,” says Danielle at the Humane Society of Lebanon County. “He recently found his way back to us after it was determined that he would be happiest and most successful as the only pet in the home.”

That said, Danielle says Chowder “is a friendly guy who truly enjoys spending time with his favorite humans. He loves affection and is happiest when he’s the center of attention!”

He has been thriving on field trips and loves to explore while on hikes, she says, and he “walks very well on a leash as well! He is very treat-motivated, knows several commands, and is both smart and eager to learn.”

Chowder would do well in a cat-free home with children ages 10 and up, Danielle explains, and he is best suited as the only dog in the household. “While he prefers to be the only pet, he more than makes up for it! He’ll fill your home and heart with love, entertainment, and plenty of snuggles!”

If you think Chowder could be a fit for your household, please fill out the adoption application online at lebanonhumane.org or call the Humane Society at 717-628-1369 for more information.
